We Mourn The Loss Of A True Musical Diva

We mourn the loss of the great songstress, Whitney Houston.

Words cannot easily express the heartfelt sentiment that we extend to the family and friends of the diva we all knew as Whitney Houston.  In the weeks to come, many will sing tributes to her life and the music industry will help us all to relive the many trials and triumphs of a life lived publicly and without apology.

Found in her hotel room as hundreds of guests prepared to go to a Clive Davis party where she was scheduled to perform, Houston's passing came as a surprise to many who believed her career to be on an upward swing.  Her last film, a remake of Sparkle, is  due to be released later this year.  Co-stars and friends all stated that they had seen Houston in recent weeks, but nothing seemed to be amiss.  Many openly applauded the fact that the diva had returned to her natural form and was, seemingly, free of the demons of her recent past.

Quincy Jones is quoted as having said,"I am absolutely heartbroken of the news of Whitney Houston... She was a true original." No one from her immediate family could be reached for comment, but Johnny Gill is said to have spoken with a CNN reporter who said Bobby Brown is devastated and unable to speak at the time of this report.

An official autopsy has not been offered and rumors speculate that the pop star was found in her bathtub unconscious.  TMZ reports that it may have been a lethal mix of Xanax. ibruprofen and alcohol that let to the accidental overdose.  Other reports state that the entertainer was found by her publicist and bodyguard and had been staying in the hotel for the last four days as she  prepared for the evening's concert.

Reverend Al Sharpton announced that he will call for a day of national prayer in memory of the woman who has permanently changed the music industry and its standards of poise, beauty, and vocal perfection.  Whitney, may you forever rest with angels and know that we will always love you...

The world mourns the loss of a woman who truly touched us all in different ways.  As a stirring tribute, water fountains in Dubai continually sing her praise...  Even Wendy Williams offered a somber farewell to the diva although the two celebrities had a love/hate relationship on and off the air.  It is still unclear as to how this tragic situation came to be, but it goes without saying that Whitney Houston was still very well respected within her industry.

Investigations will continue for weeks to come as police have asked that toxicology reports be sealed for up to six weeks.  In that time, many will speculate as to what transpired on that fateful day, but no one will ever truly be able to put together those last moments of an icon's life.

Needless to say, Whitney and all the music that she has let us will live on for years to come.

Rest in peace, Whitney Houston.  You will be missed.
